Dedicated to my family, neighbors and friends

Feeling sad today for losses I've endured, heard about, and witnessed. Found this:

Family quarrels are bitter things. They don't go by any rules. They're not like aches or wounds; they're more like splits in the skin that won't heal because there's not enough material.
~F. Scott Fitzgerald

Some folks will do and say things within their family that they would find abominable in people outside the family circle. Yet they plow into each other in ways that are so destructive to all parties. Do they think that family are impervious to their hurtfulness? Do they think that they do no harm to themselves?

Play nice today......

Based completely on my personal experience with hurtful/ignorant behavior from family members, I think "familiarity breeds contempt" is apt here, if it ever is. I've noticed people get jaded about the people they see most ... especially when the bond of caring wasn't strong to begin with. (Sad to think that family members don't really love each other, but sad doesn't mean untrue.)

How depressing I am! ;) But being realistic helps me heal and cope — if I can come to terms with reality, I can coexist with it, and even build a new reality on a firm foundation.

Anyway. Wouldn't it be nice if there were a magic compassion wand we could wave when people get negative with each other?
